As demand for Ethernet and IP services are growing dramatically, more and more service providers try to bring their Ethernet services into the access area. The bandwidth on the first mile is always the bottle neck for these services and cost using Ethernet over ATM is not the most cost effectrive solution: the cell-tax of ATM (15%) is too costly for them.
New techniques are in place to bring the Ethernet without overhead to the customers and give the service providers the capability to offer more bandwidth on the existing infrastructure.
This raises the demand to introduce more OAM capabilities to the Ethernet transport layer to get more information on service availability, point of failures and maintenance. A standard approach to achieve this is the IEEE 802.3ah (Ethernet in the First Mile) recommendation.
Solution:
Pandatel ETC series products are well positions to offer the latest OAM functions, complying to IEEE 802.3ah. ETC series are used as the demarcation device, while interoperating with a head-end switch with EFM capability.
Pandatel ETC products offer to the service providers more management capability to its Ethernet-based access network.
Examples of Applications:
Gigabit Ethernet Ring with Redundancy and Manageability with ETC-B28
All Optical Switch with Ethernet Delivery using ETC-B26
